AEL Beta 0.0.1 is the first public release of AEL, the Agent Engineering Language. It is launching soon.

What launching soon means

AEL is not available yet. There is nothing to download, install or sign up for. When the beta launches, installers will be published on this site, official packages on pack.ael.openeng.ai and the full documentation on docs.ael.openeng.ai.

What Beta 0.0.1 will include

  • Language and toolchain: a typed, compiled language for agents, with one command-line tool to create, check, format, build, run and debug projects.
  • Agents and workflows: prompts as business policy, tools, typed inputs and outputs, multi-agent patterns, shared budgets, retries, human approvals and runs that survive restarts.
  • Models and knowledge: OpenAI-compatible model clients for local and cloud models, MCP tools, agent-to-agent delegation over A2A, multimodal input and retrieval over your own knowledge (RAG).
  • Connect to your services: turn an agent into an HTTP or gRPC service, react to events and schedules, and call your existing programs as tools.
  • Packages: the official registry at pack.ael.openeng.ai, with signed versions published only by OpenEng, and private packages you build and host yourself.
  • Platforms: Linux, macOS, Windows, containers and microcontroller boards. Programs run on servers, containers and devices, with nothing to compile or download at startup.
  • Operations: time and token usage reports, structured logs, per-agent limits, staged deployments and rollback.
  • Optional packages: robotics, scientific computing and quantum computing, including ROS 2 support and quantum circuits that export to OpenQASM and QIR.
  • AEL Cloud: a service hosted by OpenEng where you will build and run agents in the cloud with your own account, coming with the beta at cloud.ael.openeng.ai.
  • Documentation: guides for every part of the beta on docs.ael.openeng.ai.

The launch date, the licence and pricing are not announced yet. The launch date will be announced in the AEL updates feed; the licence and pricing will be announced at launch.
